CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,250.00 - $ 20,063.00
Anticipated Hiring Range: $13,167.00 - $15,000.00 per month.
The salary is competitive and negotiable depending on the strength of qualifications. This is a California State University Management Personnel Plan (MPP) position with an attractive package, which includes but is not limited to: a vacation accrual rate of 16 hours per month; 14 paid holidays; excellent choice of medical, dental, and vision insurance, long-term disability coverage, life insurance; and retirement benefits.

4. Detailed knowledge and understanding of the organization and operation of the local, state, and federal government and the legislative process at the local, state, and federal levels.
5. Understanding of governmental protocols, California laws, and California rulemaking.
6. Understanding of public policy issues and interests, including financial and budgeting pressures and concerns, impacting public higher education in California and the nation.
7. Effective leadership and analytical skills.
8. Excellent strategic communication skills (written and verbal); demonstrated ability to testify before legislative and community groups.
9. Excellent writing, editing, presentation, and facilitation skills.
10. Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
11. Strong organizational skills; ability to work successfully on multiple projects.
12. Ability to work as part of a team and the capacity to perform effectively under deadline pressure.
13. Understanding of effective community engagement/anchor university strategies for an institution of higher education.
14. Understanding of the anchor mission of the University.
15. Demonstrated collaboration with local community organizations.
- Ability to occasionally work at and attend off-site meetings and events.
Conditions of Employment
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
16. Advanced degree.
17. Experience with and/or strong knowledge of higher education advocacy efforts and programs.
18. Significant experience (10 years or more) of experience in the legislative or executive branch at the local, state, or federal level, demonstrating successful strategic advocacy and management experience.
19. Experience overseeing event planning and logistics.
20. Experience supporting or implementing community engagement/ anchor university best practices at an institution of higher education.
21. Experience writing legislation and moving legislation through the legislative process at the local, state or national level.
